Energy Mastery with Heart Rate Variability Tracking
Heart rate variability (HRV) tracking will help you understand and improve how your body responds to sleep, exercise, stress and daily activities.
By providing concrete data, HRV tracking reduces the guesswork in managing stress, fatigue, burnout or illness, enabling you to optimise your health and wellbeing and get you back to living your best life.

Are you tired of stress or energy crashes holding you back?
With my own experience of burnout and complex illness, I understand what it's like to struggle with fatigue, energy crashes and having to 'reserve' days for recovery, not being able to go and do the things you want to do.
As a Health and HRV Coach I can help you analyse the data, reflect on what's working or not working and provide personalised recommendations to get you where you want to be quicker.
I mainly use Firstbeat Life HRV Tracking (which you can hire) as it provides continuous HRV tracking day and night and provides direct insights into the state of your nervous system and how daily activities impact sleep, stress, energy and recovery.
Invest in your health now

"Navigating burnout I found that the HRV tracking gave me ‘scientific permission’ to actually lie down and rest and not wait until I'm absolutely flaked out and can barely stand up. But proactively turning it into - what do I like doing and how can I use that time in a way that sparks joy and allows me to recover?" - Jackie
What is HRV?
Many people think our heart rate is uniform, however there are millisecond changes in the intervals between each heart beat and this variation is Heart Rate Variability.
In general a high HRV means the body is better able to adapt and has higher resilience, while a lower HRV can signal stress, fatigue, or illness when measured daily at rest over time. However HRV changes throughout the day and night based on your activities so it's the continuous tracking of HRV that enables you to really see what's going on.
Firstbeat's continuous tracking and highly accurate data allows for detailed analysis of your nervous system activity (sympathetic vs. parasympathetic) throughout the day and night. It can pinpoint exactly when stress peaks, when recovery truly happens (or doesn't), and how specific activities, stressors and changes to your lifestyle impact your energy, sleep and recovery.

HRV Tracking + Coaching
The Wearable and App
The Firstbeat Life solution consists of a personal, highly accurate measurement device and the mobile app for monitoring stress, recovery, sleep, and exercise.
The wearable is designed to be worn discreetly on the chest for periods of 1-5 days at a time and provides real time data as well as a detailed post measurement report with the app.
This technology helps empower you to implement specific, positive lifestyle changes necessary to balance stress and activities, optimise recovery, and improve their overall well-being.
The Coaching
The data from HRV tracking is a powerful starting point, but it's only one piece of the puzzle. The true value lies in the health coaching that brings the numbers to life.
As your coach, I combine professional expertise with your unique data to translate knowledge into actionable steps that create sustainable changes. By recognizing your personal strengths and values, we'll work together to build a plan that's focused on you, helping you reflect on your results and take control of your health.
If you have your own wearable - like Garmin, Oura ring or Woop and would like to discuss HRV coaching to help you analyse your results please reach at to kate@insidematters.co.nz or call 021 462 731.
